ST GEORGE PRIDE SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship was made possible by St. George’s very first Pride festival, on June 25th, 2016. The St. George Pride committee generously donated all the money raised by the event to fund DSU’s Resource Center.
HOW TO APPLY
Current DSU students who identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community can submit a 500-750 word narrative essay describing how their identity affected their experiences growing up. It doesn’t matter whether those experiences were negative, positive, or a mix of both – all narratives are welcomed. Two scholarships are awarded each year: one to a St. George resident, and one to a student from anywhere but St. George. Applications are due by February 28th and are awarded in the upcomign Fall semester.
WHAT THE SCHOLARSHIP PROVIDES
Students chosen for the St. George Pride scholarship receive $250 in aid. Each student is strongly encouraged to attend the upcoming St. George Pride event and give a speech based on their narrative essay, but students who cannot attend in person must write a short statement which will be read at St. George Pride.
